- Washing Advice
Clothes last longer when we take care of them. Here you’ll find explanations of the symbols on our washing labels and some advice on washing in general.
Do not wash unnecessarily.
Do not wash unnecessarily. Over-washing your clothes is bad for both your wallet and the environment, but also for your garments. In many cases, airing and brushing are great ways to keep them fresh. If an item gets stained, you can use stain remover instead of washing the garment. Smell the garment to decide what is best.
Wash at a lower temperature.
For heavily soiled clothes, underwear, sheets, etc., we recommend washing at the highest possible temperature. However, if the garment is only slightly soiled, we recommend washing at a low temperature to protect both the garment and the environment. Our garments are marked with the maximum possible temperature.
Do not overdose on detergent.
Overdosing on detergent does not give better results; on the contrary, the excess detergent can remain in the clothing and cause skin irritation.
Let your clothes air dry.
Tumble dryers and drying cabinets not only consume a lot of energy, they also wear out our clothes. So let your clothes air dry if possible.
Close any Velcro straps and zippers before washing.
Unnecessary wear and tear can often be prevented by closing any Velcro straps and zippers before washing.
Wash delicate garments in a laundry bag.
Delicate garments such as nylon socks, bras and fine lace are best washed in a laundry bag. By extending their lifespan, you’re not only being kind to your wallet, but also to the environment.
Caring for your bra
Use a laundry bag to avoid damaging the underwire or it getting stuck in the washing machine. Also fasten the hooks so that they don’t get caught and tear other delicate fabrics.
Take care of your jeans
Turn the garment inside out before washing. Close any zippers and buttons. Use bleach-free detergent. It’s a good idea to hang your jeans to dry. Avoid tumble drying as the heat can damage the elastane and cause the jeans to lose their shape. Also, don’t dry your jeans in the sun as this will cause them to fade.
Take care of your jacket
Close any buttons, zippers, buckles and Velcro straps, so that the jacket does not get caught in anything during washing. Down jackets can be tumble dried together with tennis balls to help distribute the down better. Make sure the garment is completely dry before removing it from the tumble dryer. Shake the garment after drying and make sure the down is well distributed throughout the garment.
Always read and follow the washing instructions for the garment.
